Instant Jam ready to rock Facebook

Browser-based gaming service, InstantAction, reveals Guitar Hero-inspired 3D rhythm game that can be played anywhere on the web.

The first ever console-quality, online music-rhythm game has been unveiled by gaming service, InstantAction. Instant Jam is free to play using tracks from your music collection and is embeddable anywhere on the web.

The rhythm game is the first original title from InstantAction’s Vegas-based games studio. Instant Jam delivers a core game experience with high-quality 3D visuals directly from the browser with popular features of social games. It can be embedded and played anywhere on the web thanks to its maker’s custom embed technology.

Facebook is the company’s main target to begin spreading the word about their innovative new music game. Instant Jam is currently available in a Facebook beta programme. The beta will be open to the public in subsequent weeks through the game’s website (www.instantjam.com) and embedded versions throughout the web.

The game pulls data straight from users’ music libraries, such as iTunes or Windows Media Player, for use in-game. Songs can also be purchased from digital music retailers and are ready to use seamlessly. Instant Jam is played by tapping the keyboard or using a USB guitar controller – from either Rock Band or Guitar Hero.

There are already over 2,000 note charts supporting the world’s most popular songs – more than all other console rhythm games combined – with support for dozens of songs being added each week. You can challenge friends, earn or purchase virtual goods that enhance the gameplay, gift items, and share the game online as easily as you would a YouTube video.

“We created Instant Jam because we believe people should be able to play along to any song from any band or genre they like, rather than be confined to a handful of pre-set songs chosen for the game they’re playing,” said Louis Castle, CEO of InstantAction, “We also strongly believe that games – like other forms of entertainment media – should be easier for consumers to discover, try, enjoy and share. Instant Jam embodies all of this and provides music lovers with a powerful new way to interact while experiencing their music.”

Making games easier to discover and share were pivotal to Castle’s keynote speech at the Develop conference last month.

Instant Jam will be available first on the PC, with Mac and Flash versions to follow shortly.
