Opera North at Nottingham’s Theatre Royal

This week sees the return of Opera North to Nottingham’s Theatre Royal with three productions that will add some colourful entertainment to the dreary, dark nights.

A new production of The Merry Widow, which will be performed on Tuesday 16th & Thursday 18th November, stars Stephanie Corley in her Opera North debut as the young widow as well as Nottingham born tenor, Nicholas Sharratt with William Dazeley and Amy Freston. The production is directed by Giles Havergal.

Another new production gracing the stage in Nottingham this year is Benjamin Britten’s The Turn of the Screw, based on Henry James’ chilling ghost story. This production will be performed on one night only: Wendesday 17th November. The Turn of the Screw stars Elizabeth Atherton, Giselle Allen, Yvonne Howard and Benjamin Hulett.

Lastly, a revival of Opera North’s popular production of The Adventures of Pinocchio will be performed on Friday 19th and Saturday 20th November. This popular production is directed by Martin Duncan and stars Victoria Simmonds in the title role with Graeme Broadbent, Fflur Wyn and Jonathan Summers as Geppetto.
