West Ham 3 – 2 Forest: Reds bow out of FA Cup

Nottingham Forest went crashing out of the FA Cup on Sunday at the hands of Premier League side, West Ham.

A Victor Obinna hat-trick was enough to see of the plucky Championship side, despite their best efforts.

Dele Adebola equalised Obinna’s fourth minute opener, before David McGoldrick put Forest ahead on 40 minutes.

However, just moments later, the Nigerian forward pegged the visitors back to send the sides in level at the break.

Despite Forest dominating much of the play, the Hammers were awarded a penalty in the 52nd minute when Joel Lynch pulled back Winston Reid.

Sensing a hat-trick, Obinna was allowed to take the penalty and duly dispatched it to put West Ham back in front.

Forest were unable to get back into the game at that point, but a performance like that will be sure to give their promotion credentials a push, knowing they can compete with Premier League opposition.

Attentions now turn to the League, with Forest traveling to Coventry on Tuesday night. On Saturday they host Watford – a game that Trent students will be able to see for just £5.

Then later in the month they play Preston at the City Ground where student tickets will be reduced to £10.
