TNA wrestling made its debut in Nottingham on Thursday night with an excellent show featuring some great matches and memorable moments. The event, held at the Nottingham arena, had a number of top quality contests featuring the likes of Olympic gold medallist Kurt Angle, TNA heavyweight champion Bobby Roode and wrestling legend Sting. The undoubted highlight, however, was the return of icon Hulk Hogan who made his first UK wrestling appearance in 19 years.
The Hulkster, after decades in the ring and multiple back operations, may not be as agile as he once was but he was still able to bring the crowd to their feet with his trademark moves and mannerisms. Hogan featured as part of a six-man tag team main event where the majority of in-ring responsibility was taken on by a new generation of superstar wrestlers such as ‘Cowboy’ James Storm – a firm fan favourite in Nottingham.
Other bouts included UK veteran Doug Williams, high-flying ‘X’ Division champion Austin Aries and ‘The Samoan submission machine’ Samoa Joe. The TNA roster features wrestlers who have featured in other wrestling companies combined with a number of up and coming home-grown stars. The Nottingham event was a showcase of top-quality TNA action and, even though it was a non-televised event, all wrestlers put maximum effort into their matches.
TNA may not be the most well-known wrestling company however has solidified a firm reputation over the last 10 years as the show to watch for fans of wrestling. The company features a whole host of experienced wrestlers who are well versed at providing great wrestling action and entertainment. The weekly television show, IMPACT!, features on Challenge TV (available on freeview) on Sunday nights at 9pm.
