Derby based band Laguna Sunrise released their debut single and video A Lesson in Aviation today. The video, directed by Daniel Peters has a clean contemporary feel to it and is easy to watch with a good selection of shots that highlight the individual musician’s skills. The single will be available worldwide for download on iTunes from the February 6.
Laguna Sunrise is made up of seven members, Nick May and Jay Miller on vocals, Stef Gaster and Daryl Martin on guitars, Dale Bayliss on bass, Ben Gaines on drums and Marty Kelly on keys. The band mix modern dub-step style drops with harmonising lyrics and metal core break downs before throwing in some sing along poppy vocals to top it off. The overall result is not one that can simply be pigeon holed into one category but something that sits quite happily in the middle of several of the most happening music genres at the minute as it blurs the boundaries between each.
The band has an ever growing fan base on their Facebook page which is close to having 1500 likes and has played Rock City Basement supporting Exit 10 before Christmas. If this is the first time you have heard of Laguna Sunrise and you fancy checking them out at a gig, the next local shows are, Saturday, February 11 at Intake club in Mansfield and Saturday, April 14, at The Old Bell Hotel in Derby (which is where the video was shot).
