Nu2 Sport project offering sessions for just £1

Want to keep in shape but not keen on competitive sport? Looking to try something different but don’t want to pay a membership fee? Used to play a sport at school and want to get back into it, in a fun environment? Then Nu2 Sport is for you.

Running for the next six weeks, the project is aiming to get people involved in physical activity by making it easily accessible, and most importantly exciting.

Nu2 Sport provides a great alternative to playing competitive sport at British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) level, giving people the confidence to take part in a wide variety of sessions, in relaxed surroundings.

Of around 26,000 students who attend Nottingham Trent University, there are approximately 6,000 who currently hold sport and fitness memberships – which leaves a massive 20,000 students who can still stay active, without having to sign up for anything.

Being able to pay just £1 per session means that there is no pressure to turn up every time, and for the vast majority of sessions there is no need to book in advance.

The activities are taking place indoors on the NTU Clifton campus, at the Lee Westwood Sports Centre, with some sessions also arranged for the City site, and are scheduled to last until the 25th of March.

Executives from both Trent and the University of Nottingham met recently to kick off the Nu2 Sport project in style, as the unions fought it out over a game of netball at University Park.

Key events to come include a charity Zumba class set up by childcare students, taking place on the 13th of February, plus the chance to do some ice skating on the night of the Varsity ice hockey match at the National Ice Centre on the 20th of February.

All sessions are open to anyone, with the focus around having fun and keeping active, as opposed to receiving formal coaching, while all equipment is provided.

For more information, you can call either the City campus branch on 0115 848 4066, or Clifton on 0115 848 3219. See below for a timetable of sessions.
