The lovely people of Bath were given more than an eye-full yesterday when 130 hooters came pounding round the streets with our wonderful patron Dermot O’Leary. They even had a double decker boob bus at the 6 mile mark where the incredible Boob Team were giving our Hooters a serious amount of love and supporters round the route to support the runners every step of the way.
The 13.1 hot sunny miles were taken on by the Hooters and running on behalf of Nottingham Trent Uni was Shane Matthews and Sophie Davis. They completed the massive run in just under 2 hours 15 minutes which was a massive achievement, especially as they beat there estimated time of 2 hours 30 minutes. And not only this but they also raised in excess of nearly £500 for the charity as well, which was huge! Last year CoppaFeel raised nearly £1,000 on the day and over £30,000 in total, with the support of the other patron Fearne Cotton, this year they aimed to have raised EVEN more.
Are you wondering, who is CoppaFeel?
CoppaFeel is a breast cancer awareness charity aimed at young women and men between the ages of 18-30, in order to get you to check your boobs. They’re on a mission to stamp out late detection and misdiagnosis of breast cancer by ensuring that you know the signs and the symptoms and what they feel like normally, so that you check your boobs regularly throughout your lifetime and will have the confidence to seek medical advice if you detect any changes to your body.
NTU does have their own Boob Team which started this academic year and hope they can start doing more events and fundraising in the years to come as well. The Boob team will be on campus throughout the year, organising events and running and supporting projects all in support of breast cancer awareness. Nottingham Trent does have their own micro-site on the official www.coppafeel.org website, so go and have a look! All events held, events coming up and recent photos will be posted online there.

In order to encourage you to check your boobs and to ensure you don’t forget CoppaFeel wants you to sign up to the FREE text messaging service which reminds you every month to check your boobs. All you need to do is text BOOBS15 to 70300 with the chosen name for your beautiful boobs. E.g. You could name them for example, Pinky and Perky, French and Saunders, Lefty and Righty, Drum and Bass and even Gavin and Stacey. Text should look like this “BOOBS15 Gavin and Stacey” to 70300.
We want the girls and boys at NTU to get more involved and keep checking those beautiful boobs. If you’d like to get involved feel free to contact either Sophie Davis, Katie Gilbert and/or Amy-Louise Cross and join the boob hype at NTU.
PS. Bring on Bath Half 2013!
Keep Coppin’ NTU x
