Nottingham Trent University have increased the cost of its tuition fees to £8,750 from next year.
Students starting full-time undergraduate courses will have to pay the higher fees from September 2013, a rise of £250 from what students beginning this year have had to pay.
It moves Nottingham Trent about the national average of £8,507 a year, but despite the rise, the university has reported an increase in applications.
The university has put the 2.9% rise down to increased running costs.
The University of Nottingham meanwhile will continue to charge the maximum £9,000 a year.
