Everyone I told that I was heading to Nottingham for university said the same thing – That the nights out are like no other. This guide is to make sure you’re not caught with your pants down (At least not before Freshers even begins!) on the fancy dress front.
Friday – Kickstart
Kickstart is just that – a kickstart to your social life at university. Let loose, make new friends and dance! City students are to meet at Spanky Van Dykes, Clifton based students at the Point and for those at Brackenhurst at Brack bar but don’t worry your Fresher reps will be around help you find your footing!
Saturday – Beach
Time to pull out all your holiday clothes! If you’re strapped for time a floral lei (pick one up at Luvyababes in Victoria centre for a few quid or even a pound shop) goes a long way. Team with a cute top and, of course, the hottest of hot pants. For the more adventurous dig out your bikini tops, sandals or wedges, pool floats and beach balls.
Sunday – Trent Army
You have been enlisted into the Trent army so apply your war paint and prepare to do battle. Combat shorts, killer lace up boots and all the khaki you can get your hands on. Complete the look with plastic bullet belt, classic aviators and don’t forget your T.R.E.N.T dog tag!
Monday/Tuesday – City club
There’s no theme for these two nights, just a chance to socialise with new made friends and explore the city. A chic peplum top will take you from venue to venue and is oh-so on trend and flattering for all shapes and sizes. City students to meet at Spanky Van Dykes and Clifton students at the Point.
Wednesday – Oceana
£5 will take you to Nottingham’s biggest nightclub with five rooms there’s something for everyone – hip hop, dance, retro and so much more. A killer LBD and some personal style with accessories is timeless clubbing staple.
Thursday – Hypnotist/Silent Disco
Thursday you are in for a treat with a choice of a unique comedic hypnotic stage show or a trip to the city’s best venues for a silent disco. Of course in Nottingham we go hard so who says you to choose? Buses will be available to those who want to stay out to take you to the city after the show.
Friday – Double Vision/UV Rave
Embrace all that is neon for City’s UV Rave on Friday night! Pick up some glowsticks, UV paint and the brightest, most nineties clothes you can lay your hands on and get on that dancefloor. For you Clifton students it’s time to get double vision and dance till your feet are sore too some absolute cheese and the odd modern classic.
Saturday – Climax
THE student’s Saturday night out. Take a dip in the Ocean and shake your tail feather to the variety of dance, hip hop, retro, Indie, DnB, dubstep and R&B. Get your pins out with a cute pair of printed shorts, a cropped tee and get ready to party hard.
Sunday – Big Quiz
£1 will gain you entry into the ultimate quiz night – a great way to wind down after a long week of partying. Chill with your new found mates with a couple of drinks and be with a chance to win up to £100 cash and plenty of drink! Held at three locations across the campuses Spanky Van Dykes (City), The Point (Clifton) and Brack Bar (Brackenhurst)
