When I was told freshers would be one of the best weeks of my life, to be honest I didn’t really believe them. I thought how can I have an amazing week with people I have never met? A pretty common thought I would assume, but now with freshers over I cannot believe how wrong I was!
The nights out was an obvious highlight of mine, bonding with my now friends over tequila shots became frequent as the days went by. A particular favourite night of mine was Trent Army at Clifton SU, great music and company as the majority of my block made it out with a great effort with the fancy dress I might add. My flat and I became closer over the classic drinking game ‘Ring of Fire’ which basically consisted of us laughing as one of us had to drink a horrific concoction of too many spirits to mention.
Not only was the nights out some of the best I have experienced but during the day reminiscing over the funny antics of the night before and updating each other on the gossip of the block and laughing at others misfortunes was secretly enjoyed. One of my favourite parts of the experience is the welcoming nature of everyone especially in my block, knowing I can walk across the hall or upstairs and have a cup of tea and a chat with someone is always comforting to know especially when you’re not feeling 100% or most the time even 50.
I can honestly say whether it was trying to get one of my passed out flatmates to go to bed, holding back a girls hair you met in the toilet or waking up the next morning and realising you have spent half of your money you had to last you a week on one amazing night it has definitely been and eventful week that I don’t expect to forget in a hurry. For now though, a week or three to recover from the horrors of freshers flu!
