Trent drinking favourite Spanky Van Dykes has apologised after it displayed a sign with a ‘joke’ about recently transitioned Caitlyn Jenner from Bruce.

The bar on Goldsmith Street displayed a sign reading “Our buns are fresher than Bruce Jenner’s!” – Followed by two hashtags ‘#Transbanter’ and ‘#Tranter’.

Staff apologised by means of displaying another chalk board that read “We didn’t mean to offend… Today’s special – humble pie.”

Reality star Caitlyn made her debut as a woman on this months cover of Vanity Fair earlier this week – she is best known for her appearances as Bruce on Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

LGBT Students’ officer elected for 2015/16, Luke Gabbitass said: “It’s upsetting to see Spanky van Dykes attempting to use someone’s identity as a marketing ploy. It’s no surprise that many people feel transphobia is becoming a major issue when even  businesses are taking part in what they believe to be ‘banter’.”
