End of summer bash Bestival are relaunching one of their most popular late night areas with a trio of huge headliners.
In keeping with this year’s theme of ‘The Future’ the Isle of Wight fest have announced The Port will be re-themed to an interstellar Spaceport, complete with lasers, acrobatic astronauts and a seven-story high spaceship.
Gracing the new stage on Friday night will be Diplo, following his main stage headline set with Major Lazer, while rave pioneer Carl Cox takes control of Saturday’s party, bringing a career spanning House Classics set.
And on Sunday it’s the turn of Bestival veteran Fatboy Slim to launch festival goers in to one final orbit.
Speaking about the new stage, which will feature state of the art soundsystems and lighting design from Paul Normandale (who has previously worked on The Chemical Brothers’ stunning stage show) festival curator Rob da Bank said: “This is The Future of the dance. HMS Bestival, our trusty old ship, has sunk or otherwise been sucked down a Bermuda Triangle shaped whirlpool, and thus we are reinventing Robin Hill’s sacred rave space once more with a spaceship the likes Planet Earth has never witnessed.
“Prepare for take-off, take your protein pills and put your helmet on. See you at The Spaceport in t-minus 196 days and counting…”
The full lineup for The Spaceport will be announced very soon, but the headliners join a festival bill already brimming with talent including headliners The Cure, Major Lazer and Hot Chip, with a Sunday headliner also still to be announced.
Bastille, Ride, Damian ‘Jr. Gong’ Marley, Eats Everything, Skepta, Bicep and Kurupt FM plus many more are also set to play.
Tickets for the festival, which runs from between 8th-11th September are on sale now and are priced at just £180 for students with a valid NUS card.
Adult tickets cost £190 with teens (13-17) able to get in for £120 when accompanied by an adult.
