10 Must See Cult Classics

Trainspotting-1996

“What makes a film a cult classic?” That age old debate amongst film buffs. I asked a selection of people, from teenagers to pensioners, what they thought the must see cult classics of our time were. Below are the top ten that were mentioned, in no particular order..

Shawshank Redemption

An award winning film that often reaches the top of ‘best films ever made’ lists.

Trainspotting

‘Choose Life’.. Danny Boyle certainly did in this film, and for all you Trainspotting enthusiasts you can now see the trailer for Trainspotting 2 on youtube, out January 2016.

Pulp Fiction

Probably the most famous of cult classics. If you haven’t watched it, do it now!

Dazed and Confused

A film following a group of teenagers on the last day of term in the 70s. Possibly a bit easier watching than other cult classics.

Pink Floyd – The Wall

Flash backs and chemical induced hallucinations. Two phrases that give an idea of what this film is about..

Donnie Darko

This phycological thriller is one of the more recent cult classics with a huge following of fans.

The Godfather

Widely regarded as one the best films of all time, you decide..

A Clockwork Orange

A dystopian crime thriller, you have to watch this one to see why so many people love it.

Kids

A controversial choice but one that had to be included, once you’ve watched it you certainly wont forget it.

Natural Born killers 1994

Another crime thriller but I had to include this as our last on the list. The tagline ‘The media made them superstars’ sets the tone for the film and looks at the way the media portrays criminals.
