Competition Rules & Regulations

(These rules and regulations are derived from the British Code of Advertising, Sales Promotion and Direct Marketing that govern all promotional draws and competitions.)

1.0 Competition Details
All competitions published or broadcast by Platform will give details of:

  1. How to enter.
  2. Any cost involved.
  3. Start date (if applicable).
  4. Closing Date.
  5. Prizes available (including quantity).
  6. Any restrictions not detailed or different to general conditions of entry.

2.0. Conditions of Entry

2.1.    Entries
2.1.1. Acceptance of rules is a condition of entry. All instructions form part of the rules.
2.1.2. Competitions are open to all members of Nottingham Trent Students Union (“NTSU”), except employees of NTSU, their families, agents, printers, Platform Committee members, and anyone connected to the specific promotion.
2.1.3. All entries are subject to scrutiny and validation, and all entry forms must be intact with all personal details legible in order to be valid.
2.1.4. Proof of posting will not be proof of delivery. No responsibility will be accepted for any entries which are lost, damaged or delayed in the post. Any claims which are incomplete, torn, mutilated, illegible or damaged in any way will be declared void.  All posted entries must include a valid Nottingham Trent University student ID number and details of which competition is being entered.
2.1.5. Entries via e-mail will only be accepted from a registered Nottingham Trent University e-mail address and must indicate which competition is being entered in the Subject field.  Entries from any other source will be considered void.
2.1.6. Proof of emailing will not be accepted as proof of delivery and no responsibility can be accepted for entries lost, delayed, mislaid or for any technical failure or for any event which may cause the competition to be disrupted or corrupted.
2.1.7. All entries for competitions must be received by the specified closing date.
2.1.8. The Platform Officer, or another appropriately designated member of the Platform Committee or Officer of NTSU, in the presence of an independent NTSU staff member, will make the draw.
2.1.9. All entries, photographs, and other material submitted as part of a competition entry shall become the property and the copyright of Platform. The Platform Officer reserves the right to publish them in whole or in part, or use them in any way they think fit without the permission of the entrant.
2.1.10. Unless otherwise stated, Platform accepts no responsibility for the return of entries, photographs or other personal effects or for loss or damage to such items. Under no circumstances does Platform accept responsibility for the safe return of any material or its return in an undamaged condition or any liability for loss of or damage to such material.
2.1.11. The Platform Officer’s decision is final in all matters and no correspondence will be entered into.

2.2. Prizes
2.2.1. Cash alternatives to given prizes are not available unless stated and prizes are non-transferable.
2.2.2. Any cash prizes will be paid to the respective winners as cheques.
2.2.3. All unclaimed prizes remain the property of NTSU and will be donated to NTSU RAG (if applicable) after 6 weeks following winner’s notification or closing date, whichever is the later.
2.2.4. Withholding prizes will only be justified where the Platform Competition Rules and Regulations have not been adhered to.

2.3. Winners
2.3.1. A list of winners of any competition can be obtained by sending a SAE to: Competition Winners, Platform Magazine, Nottingham Trent Students Union, Byron House, Nottingham, NG1 4GH.
2.3.2. Winners will be announced through Platform Magazine and/or PlatformOnline.
2.3.3. Winners will be informed by email and given instructions on how to claim their prize.
2.3.4. If the winner of a competition is unable to take up a prize for any reason, Platform reserves the right to award it to an alternative winner, in which case the first winner chosen will not be eligible for any share of the prize whatsoever.
2.3.5. Winners must participate in all publicity as required by Platform.

3.0 Associated information
3.1. The promoter is Nottingham Trent Students Union, Byron House, Shakespeare Street, Nottingham, NG1 4GH.
3.2. In any instance where additional rules and regulations are applicable these will be notified in full via Platform Magazine and/or PlatformOnline.
3.3. The Platform Officer reserves the right to change the rules applicable to any competition or to void any competition at any time and for any reason.
